January 2007

Work was slow. Not much work to do. They should give me more work to do or I’ll just keep reading news or wikipedia, although a lot of it is educational. I don’t feel too bad about it. Next week, my team are given a half-day team event, which is pretty much 4-paid-hours of fun and games. Should be cool. I look forward to pictionary… even though what I just said makes me sound really nerdy.

After work, I went to the gym. I didn’t go to the gym at all last week because I had a fever. I need to enjoy the gym and like going, because I don’t want to get lazy and stop going yet. So far, I always feel better mentally and physically afterward. It’s good because work is tiring even though I’m not physically doing much. Today, I ran into a co-worker. This girl, Sarah, came and used the treadmill next to me. I was really surprised because it was my first run-in with a co-worker outside of work. She’s nice, used to play tennis with us in the summer.

Oh, I want to post these cool pictures of this rare shark they found around Japan. It’s rare because it usually lives way at the bottom of the ocean. They think it surfaced because it was sick. It didn’t live very long after being caught.

Today was Ingrid’s going-away party. She’s really important so there were like 50 people crammed into this small conference room to bid her farewell. It’s going to be weird without her because she was the one who welcome us, MATREX 6, into the company.

My senior technical director, AKA boss, has announced that she’s leaving the company. =( I’m really sad because she was my role model. Also, she was the team lead of my last assignment so I kinda got to know her on a more friendly basis. Her last day is Monday so we’ll have some sort of farewell party. She’s pursuing an international career now. I remember her saying before that that was what she wanted to do. It’s good though, that she finally gets to do what she really wants to do.

Yesterday my sister, Kelly, and I went south to Cerritos (near Long Beach) to visit relatives. It was really fun and well worth the drive. My cousins (2nd & 4th graders) are so cute. And energetic. ^_^ The older of the two, had broken her arm doing gymnastics so she couldn’t really play much. Although it was uncomfortable and painful sometime, she’s taking it very well. I’m glad we went to visit because they really didn’t remember us since the last time we saw them, they were really young. We left Saturday morning at around 7:30 and got to their house at 1. Traffic wasn’t bad at all, probably because we left so early. We pretty much spent the entire day talking and playing games with the kids. In the evening, my other cousin, Tony, came to visit us after work. Then, my cousins’ cousins (on Uncle Daryl’s side) came to visit, so there were quite a few people. It was nice and relaxing. We got back here at 1 so I took a little nap and did some laundry and cleaning.

I joined a gym! I’ve been wanting to but I didn’t think I would since I didn’t want to pay like 50 bucks a month. But I got a pretty good deal ~$11/month. It’s the kind of deal where I paid up front for 36 months but there weren’t any extra fees, so that is good. Also, I have access to all of their locations. The gym is Fitness 19… not a luxurious gym but it is good enough for me. The guy showing me around the gym was pointing out that the max weight in weights is 100 lbs … I had to laugh because even if that were a negative, it would be silly for me to be bummed out by something like that. I’m no body-builder. I went to work out today. It was pretty full when I got there at 5, but I got the machines I wanted luckily. I need to make a note to find my combination lock. Either that or change elsewhere and just go in with keys and water bottle. Nah, I don’t want to keep my keys with me in the gym. =/ Ooh, I just found the lock! I can see it from here haha.. It’s in one of my clear containers with other junk. Talk about organized huh? ^_^

Yay! I got my new tennis racquet in the mail today. It’s a Babolat brand. I’ve never owned this brand before but I chose it because of its grip size, length, head size, weight, and the fact that it has a light head. I can’t wait to try it out. I’m sure it will take some getting used to since the head is smaller than the racquet I’ve been using, which was over-sized, and also it’s shorter so my sweet spot will be an inch or so off.

It’s Kelly’s birthday today. I texted Happy Birthday to her around midnight. She’s going back to Berkeley on Sunday, I think, so I’ll hang out with her for a bit. I miss being home but when I’m home, I become extremely lazy. Such as sleeping until noon and watching so much tv that it makes me sick of it. I think it’s strange that I don’t like to watch tv by myself. Well, I usually watched tennis by myself. I think it’s because I only enjoy tv for the company of others. By myself, I’d much rather read.

I don’t know why but all of this is making me think of some of my pet peeves. One that I recently realized was that I get very very annoyed when I’m the only one in the ladies restroom and in a stall and someone comes in and chooses a stall right next to me. There are 10 other empty ones, why pick the one right next to me? This just bothers me. Another thing that annoys me is that when I’m driving and there is heavy traffic, I don’t like it when I get stuck behind a person who drives too far from the car in front of it. Even if it is for caution (I’m not one who usually tail-gates either), it bugs me because the people in the other lanes will just use that available space, which in a way, makes me further from my destination. So, when this happens, I’ll just try very hard to get in front of this person.
